2019 Legislative Report

Legislators introduced 2,497 bills and 16 joint resolutions during the 2019 Maryland General Assembly legislative session - 1,056 from the Senate and 1,441 from the House.

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Chamber's Legislative and Policy Committees, reviewed 341 bills, tracking and testifying on 157 with significant foreseeable impacts on Maryland's businesses and industries. Maryland Chamber committee members provided critical analysis and testimonials on each Chamber-considered bill, and offered expertise to assist the Government Affairs team's advocacy. Members also provided real examples on how legislation would impact their businesses.

The Maryland Chamber continued to elevate its legislative relevance and focused on issues that would have the greatest impact on businesses across the state. With a lot of new faces in the General Assembly, the Chamber worked hard to navigate new perspectives to advance business friendly legislation in Maryland.
